Student assistant (with or without Bachelor)

The Department of Digital Economics conducts research in applied economics and is ZBW’s interface with the research community in economics and management. Funded by the Joachim Herz Foundation, the department runs the Journal of Comments and Replications in Economics (JCRE).

At our department of Digital Economics in Hamburg or Kiel, we are looking as soon as possible for a

student assistant (with or without Bachelor)

The position is fixed-term in accordance with § 14 Absatz 2 TzBfG until 31.12.2024. The monthly working time is 35 hours/months. The hourly remuneration amounts to 13,25,- € for student assistants without Bachelor degree (“studentische Hilfskräfte”) and to 14,- € for student assistants with a Bachelor degree (“wissenschaftliche Hilfskräfte”).

Your tasks …

  • Checking data and code submitted to JCRE for completeness and reproducibility (primarily using STATA and R)
  • Helping authors with uploading code and data
  • Drafting reports on reproducibility
  • Assisting with the preparation of research data trainings at ZBW
  • Assisting with general journal management tasks

Your profile …

essential:

  • Current Bachelor or Master student at a German university of university of applied sciences
  • Good quantitaitive skills
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Basic knowledge of statistical software or of a programming language
  • Ability to deepen knowledge of statistical software by targeted self-study

desirable:

  • Interest in empirical economic research
  • Prior experience with STATA and/or R
