Cooperations of the ZBW

The ZBW pursues a stringent strategy of internationalisation. Cooperation agreements with international partners are important steps to global networking.

MIMOS, based in Kuala Lumpur, is Malaysia’s largest research institute for information technology in Malaysia. An internationally renowned focus of interest of MIMOS lies in the development of highly innovative knowledge technologies. Thanks to the cooperation between MIMOS and ZBW, the data stock of the ZBW can be reprocessed using the technologies of MIMOS. One joint project aims to (semi-)automatically generate an ontology for economics based on 30,000 scholarly publications provided by the ZBW.

Supporting the scholarly community in the management of research data will play a key role in the future for both GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences and the ZBW. Since there are numerous overlaps between the social sciences and economics, the two institutions have teamed up to jointly offer the portal da | ra for the registration of research data. In addition, joint work will be done to develop standards for the uniform description of research data.

 

Joanneum Research
Joanneum Research in Graz (Austria) is the application-oriented research institution of the state of Styria. The cooperation with the Joanneum Research Institute JR-Digital pursues the aim to jointly carry out the acquisition of EU projects. The idea is to bundle the networks of both organisations and their respective expertise in order to apply jointly for projects in the different programme lines of EU funding.

 

Logo: Know Center
The Know-Center is Austria's Competence Center for Knowledge Management. The research cooperation with the Know-Center serves in particular to develop modern features for mobile devices to support searches for economic literature. First results are already available, such as a mobile version of the economics portal EconBiz which is provided by the ZBW. Currently, iPhone and iPad are supported, in future other mobile platforms, such as Android, will also be supported.
