EconStor Link-up

This project aims to link up EconStor, the subject repository of the ZBW, to the internationally renowned economics resources “Research Papers in Economics (RePEc)” and “Social Science Research Network (SSRN)”. Working papers, conference proceedings or journal articles deposited on EconStor will be imported automatically into the databases of RePEc and/or SSRN through interfaces currently under development. This will improve the international visibility of research literature published in Germany. The aim is to establish EconStor as a national input service for the aforementioned resources.

The other main objective of EconStor is to relieve researchers of the efforts commonly required for self-publishing. The publications of German economic research are to be deposited systematically and comprehensively on EconStor in close cooperation with the research institutions and conference organisers.

As an additional incentive for the institutions beside the integration into RePEc and SSRN, it is planned to facilitate a relay of the documents to the German National Library and thus to comply with the legal deposit obligation for net publications with minimal effort.

In order to simplify the publication of “postprints” (freely available author’s versions of articles in publishers’ journals), EconStor will be upgraded technically so that existing metadata can be imported from the formats of widely used citation management software (such as EndNote and BibTex).
