ECONIS Select – Stabilitäts- und Wachstumspakt der EU in der Diskussion

In der Europäischen Union ist anlässlich der Schuldenkrise des Mitgliedslandes Griechenland eine neue Grundsatzdebatte über die Haushaltsregeln des EU-Stabilitätspaktes entbrannt.

Um für die Stabilität der Gemeinschaftswährung Euro zu sorgen, war von den Mitgliedsländern der Europäischen Wirtschafts- und Währungsunion eine nachhaltige, solide Haushaltspolitik gefordert.

Nun, da die fiskalischen Überwachungsmechanismen der EU offenbar nicht gegriffen haben, werden Nachbesserungen am Vertragswerk, eine Verschärfung des Defizitverfahrens und andere Sanktionen wie die Streichung von Fördermitteln für die betroffenen Mitgliedsstaaten diskutiert.
