ECONIS Select – Bernhard-Harms-Preis an Raghuram Rajan

Der mit 25.000 Euro dotierte Bernhard-Harms-Preis des Instituts für Weltwirtschaft wird in diesem Jahr an Professor Raghuram Rajan von der University of Chicago verliehen, Professor Rajan ist einer der weltweit renommiertesten Finanzexperten. Einer größeren Öffentlichkeit bekannt wurde er als Chefökonom des Internationalen Währungsfonds in den Jahren 2003–2006. Rajan hat bereits vor Ausbruch der Internationalen Finanzkrise auf potentiell brisante Schwachstellen des Bankensystems hingewiesen. Seine Vorschläge zur Überwindung der Krise und zur Schaffung eines langfristig stabileren Finanzsystems haben weltweit starke Beachtung gefunden.

Die feierliche Preisverleihung wird am 2. Dezember im Institut für Weltwirtschaft in Kiel stattfinden.

Die ZBW würdigt den aus Indien stammenden sympathischen Wissenschaftler mit einer Literaturauswahl von Werken, die sich mit Finanz- und Bankenkrisen befassen (in chronologischer Reihenfolge).
