ECONIS Select – Die OPEC wird 50 - Das Jubiläum einer Organisation mit turbulenter Vergangenheit und ungewisser Zukunft

Die Organisation erdölexportierender Länder "OPEC" feierte am 14. September 2010 ihr 50-jähriges Bestehen. Gegründet im Jahr 1960 in Bagdad mit dem Ziel, Kontrolle über die eigene Erdölförderung und den Erdölexport auszuüben, nahm die Organisation nach schwierigen ersten Jahren an Einfluss immer mehr zu und wurde alsbald als Förderkartell gesehen, eine Bezeichnung die die Opec immer von sich gewiesen hat.

Zu den Gründungsstaaten gehörten Iran, Irak, Kuwait, Saudi Arabien und Venezuela. Im Laufe ihrer bisherigen Geschichte beeinflussten starke politische Spannungen zwischen den Mitgliedsstaaten sowie die zwei Golfkriege die Organisation. Heute im Jahr 2010 sind aktuell zwölf Länder Mitglied in der OPEC.

Im Laufe der OPEC-Geschichte musste sich die Organisation wegen ihrer Förder- und Preispolitik immer wieder harscher Kritik aus den erdölimportierenden Staaten aber auch aus den eigenen Reihen stellen. Der zukünftige Einfluss der OPEC im Angesicht der endlichen Erdölressourcen ist ungewiss. Die nachfolgende Publikationsliste enthält Titel über die OPEC und von der Organisation selbst.
