Usability roughly means that something is easy to use. We take care that the online services of the ZBW are easy and comfortable to use. The needs and wishes of our users are at the centre of our efforts.

We apply scientifically sound methods and use a modern usability lab that was specifically set up for this purpose at our Hamburg branch.

The quality criteria for our work are objectivity, reliability and validity – the basic principles of empirical social science research.

We also carry out research aiming at new findings in media psychology, in particular in connection with new media. In this context, we are involved in two research projects within the Research Network Science 2.0.
