Availability of digital publications
The ZBW aims to enable free and international access for students and researchers to as many onlince documents in economics as possible. We do this through our collection of Open Access documents in economics on the one hand, and through negotiations for national licences, some of which we also host on our own repositories, on the other.
Research data management
With our research focus on research data management we aim to be a competent partner for research data in economics and the corresponding technologies.

Automation of Subject Indexing Using Methods from Artificial Intelligence
The automation of various workflows in the indexing process and their seemless integration with intellectual cataloguing and subject indexing is a permanent task at ZBW. We continuously evaluate automated procedures, develop them further in the context of our research activities, and transfer them into productive operations.

Linked Open Data (LOD)
Linked Open Data offers the chance to freely use and link data from very heterogeneous sources. Where the library world once developed highly specialised formats for the exchange of title data and authority files, open standards and programming interfaces now allow simple re-use of our data by third parties.
