The ZBW is active in making research findings accessible in Open Access and thus internationally visible. We currently do this on several levels.
EconStor
EconStor is our repository for economic literature. All the full-texts gathered there are freely accessible according to the principles of Open Access. Authors and editors can publish on EconStor without charge.
EconStor is one of the largest repositories in its field with around 250,000 full-texts. More than 600 institutions use it for the digital dissemination of their publications in Open Access. EconStor is also an important input source for RePEc and counts among the most-frequented archives there.
Open Access services for the Leibniz Association
As an important infrastructure institution within the Leibniz Association, the ZBW actively collaborates in the development of Open Access within the association. In this context we participate in the following activities:
LeibnizOpen
The portal LeibnizOpen is the central access point for Open Access publications from Leibniz researchers. Its technical basis is a network of subject-specific repositories operated by the information infrastructure institutions of the Leibniz Association. Within the framework of LeibnizOpen, the ZBW provides access to the publications of the economic research institutes, and other institutions with economic research departments, of the Leibniz Association which are held on EconStor.
Networks and public debate
The ZBW is also active in national and international networks and lobby groups to promote the concept of free dissemination of research findings. Among these are COAR, DINI, the Alliance of German Science Organisations, LIBER.
Open Access at the ZBW
The ZBW practises the philosophy of Open Access at home. We have adopted our own Open Access policy and maintain our own ZBW publication archive where all publications by ZBW authors can be found, in freely accessible full-text wherever possible.
