Twelfth SWIB conference – Semantic Web in Libraries – completely on the Web, open for a wide audience
Kiel/Hamburg/Köln, 4 November 2020: The ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics and the North Rhine-Westphalian Library Service Centre (hbz) invite you to the twelfth SWIB conference which will be held as a fully digital event from 23 until 27 November 2020. The presentations and workshops will discuss LOD projects and applications, Open Source software, standards and Best Practices. The keynote speaker is Audrey Tang, Digital Minister of Taiwan.
SWIB – Semantic Web in Libraries is an annual international conference which discusses the linking of structured data with semantic technologies. This year’s SWIB focuses on automatic indexation, the BIBFRAME data model for bibliographic data and persistent identifiers.
Audrey Tang, who fights the Covid-19 pandemic with an approach of digital democracy and relies on Fast, Fair and Fun as key attributes, will emphasise the social element of Open Science in her keynote address Open Data & Social Innovation: Experiences from Taiwan. Another top-level speaker is Matt Miller from the Library of Congress who will talk about the linking of LOC authority files with those from Wikidata.
In order to enable participants from many different time zones to attend, the digital conference will take place on five consecutive days for two-and-a-half hours in the afternoon (CET).
