MeWiKo

The project describes and quantifies the effect of external science communication on the impact of scholarly publications. It analyses the influence of external science communication, in particular the dissemination of scientific content through journalistic media (i.e. high-circulation national dailies) and social media (i.e. Twitter, blogs) on the citation rates and altmetrics of publications. So-called embargo mails and press releases are to be used as databasis.

The sub-project MeWiKo-ZBW primarily consists in discipline-comparing altmetric/bibliometric analyses of publications that are mentioned in external science communication, content analysis of press reports, and user-generated content about publications. Project management and collaboration in the modeling of a digital platform are also part of the activities.
